The Central Palm Beach County Dental Association (CPBCDA) was established to serve the public and dentists of Central Palm Beach County (from Lantana Rd., north to Blue Herron Ave., and including all the western communities). As one of the three affiliates of the Atlantic Coast District Dental Association, the CPBCDA has been serving dentists in West Palm Beach and surrounding areas for over 30 years. We are proud to serve as the local representative of the Florida Dental Association (FDA), and function as a liaison between the local dental community and both the FDA and the American Dental Association (ADA).
The CPBCDA offers a number of services to the dental community, including a high quality dental lecture series providing continuing education for the members. Furthermore, we offer professional networking opportunities, support services, answer questions, and provide referrals to the general public. We are committed to the promotion of professionalism and quality in dentistry. In addition, we are the sole party responsible for mediating disputes between patients and member dentists.
The 2017-2018 calendar year will be one that will be transformative. We are looking to bring a fresh look to the association and extend a warm welcome and invitation to dentists that are not currently members. We believe that the importance of organized dentistry within Palm Beach County is critical to the health of our profession. This upcoming year, the board has worked hard to bring in nationally recognized lecturers to provide the highest of quality lecture content and continuing education credits for our members. Many of these lectures are ones that you’d normally have to travel to large national conventions in order to attend. We are bringing these lecturers into our own backyard. Our goal is to spark excitement, emotional connection, friendships, diversity and quality education to the future of organized dentistry in Palm Beach County. This will be evident this year in our lecture series celebrating Women’s History Month in March and Hispanic Heritage Month in October. These lectures will feature 2 cutting edge, world renowned lecturers and celebratory activities. We want to bring about unity, comradery and a sense of being part of something special that dentists can bring back to their practice and to their lives. The lecture series will also feature the distinguished endodontic lecturer, Dr. Kenneth Hargreaves and the mandated medical errors/domestic violence courses. We invite all dentists to attend these high quality lectures.
This upcoming year, we will also be looking to establish a mentorship program. As young dentists graduating from school search for guidance, our members will be available to discuss the treatment planning of challenging cases, patient and practice management skills, leadership opportunities, and concepts to consider when purchasing a practice. The amount of information and wisdom that a young dentist can learn from having a mentor cannot be overstated. Furthermore, mentorships and subsequent development of friendships can evolve into associate positions or buying into a practice. This natural introductory process will be a stepping stone for young dentists to make a transition into more desirable positions within the profession.
Community service and volunteering opportunities will be another important goal for the association in the upcoming year. We will be partnering with the unique Caridad Center in Boynton Beach in October to honor the dentists of Palm Beach County who have extraordinarily contributed their time and resources to help the underprivileged patients within our county. We hope that this partnership with Caridad Center will bring about awareness and future volunteer opportunities for our members. Giving back to the community has always been a central role within organized dentistry. We look forward to bring these opportunities and events to our members in the upcoming year.
Interaction through social media has been an emerging trend in our profession. As a local association, we will strive to provide members with pertinent new legislation, treatment protocols, and new advances in our field through social media outlets like Facebook, updating our website and special invitations through evites. Methods of communication are constantly changing, and we look to the future generations of dentists to modernize our association and provide it with a fresh, exciting look.
The 2017-2018 year will include special invitations to experience our association. We cordially invite North Palm Beach and South Palm Beach County Dental Associations to join us for our featured lectures. We will also extend invitations to Nova Southeastern Dental School faculty and students, Nova endodontic residents for our endodontic lecturer, and members of the south Florida Hispanic Dental Association to join us for Hispanic Heritage Month. A primary focus will be to increase female dentist participation in the association and promote women’s leadership. This will be noted in our March, Women’s Heritage Month lecture with Dr. Patricia Blanton. We will honor the great diversity of dentists that make up our county.
The CPBCDA encourages, and welcomes, all dentists in Palm Beach County to join our association in 2017-2018 for a memorable year. We thank our current and past members for the incredible contributions that they have made to our great dental association. They have worked hard to make our profession successful. We also extend a warm welcome and invitation to new members to join us in our mission to support dental education, community service, a mentorship program and professional comradery in our area. Organized dentistry has proven to be a powerhouse as an advocate for the dental profession. It has successfully defended the rights of dentists against unfair legislation and policies used by insurance companies. As we move into the future, leadership within our county, state, and nation will be critical in maintaining a healthy profession. The progress seen within organized dentistry so far has benefited the entire dental profession. We rely on new members and the future generations of dentists to lead us to a bright and successful future. Your support CAN make a difference.
I look forward to seeing you all at our first meeting and if you know any other dentists in the community please encourage them to join or just come to a meeting to see what it’s all about. Be a part of organized dentistry and together we will continue to do amazing things!
Warm Regards, Dr Jeffrey Albert
